Message from the dean of Graduate School
“Philosophia et Praktikos,” the funding principle of Kyoto Pharmaceutical University (KPU), forms the basis of graduate education at KPU. The aim of the graduate programs is to cultivate the abilities and competencies necessary to become a leader in the fields of basic and clinical pharmaceutical sciences. To achieve this goal, each graduate program is designed to promote original research conducted in collaboration with laboratories at KPU as well as with universities and research institutions overseas. Through these international research activities, students acquire original and creative research capabilities, which are fundamental requirements for leadership in pharmaceutical sciences and related fields.
Based on the six-year undergraduate program at KPU, the university offers a four-year graduate program for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences. This program comprises three options: Basic Pharmaceutical Sciences, Clinical Pharmaceutical Sciences, and the Next-Generation Cancer Professional Education Plan (conducted in collaboration with medical universities). Each option includes lectures covering specialized research fields as well as general research ethics. In addition, courses focusing on academic writing and presentation skills in English are provided. The primary objective of the program is to cultivate advanced research capabilities through laboratory activities that cover various fields of pharmaceutical sciences.
International students willing to devote themselves to research at KPU to acquire highly specialized knowledge and develop the ability of conducting research skills are warmly welcomed. The purpose of the Doctoral courses proposed for international students is to cultivate researchers with the ability to actively and effectively participate in global research activities in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.
