Research work
The goal of our research group is to develop seed compounds for preventive medicines targeting 'cancer,' which approximately half of Japanese people will contract during their lifetime, and 'neurodegenerative diseases,' which significantly reduce quality of life. This research utilizes Japan's biological resources, such as plants used for medicinal or edible purposes and their associated endophytic fungi. Specifically, the research focuses on establishing and applying methods for creating compounds through interactions between plants and endophytic fungi, as well as evaluating the disease prevention capabilities of these compounds and elucidating their mechanisms of bioactivity.
